Dell Boomi launches Spring update, certification program PDF Print E-mail

Dell’s Boomi unit, acquired in November, on Tuesday rolled out the Spring update for its AtomSphere SaaS integration suite along with a partner certification program.

Dell Boomi launches Spring update, certification programBoomi CTO Rick Nucci said Boomi’s integration with Dell has allowed it to enter larger enterprise accounts. Boomi’s Atomsphere revolves around integrating various SaaS applications with middleware and on-premise software. “SMBs are representing the breadth of customers,” said Nucci. “But the amount of data per customer is growing because larger companies are adopting SaaS in general.”

Under Dell, which has acquired a bevy of smaller players like Boomi, Nucci has been able to ride shotgun in larger deployments. The biggest change for Boomi is that Nucci doesn’t have to explain the company’s viability plans.

Boomi, which starts at $550 a month, is likely to see continued growth as enterprise deployments increasingly see hybrid SaaS and on-premise software are mixed and matched. Indeed, Nucci said Boomi’s software is most often used to integrate Taleo, Salesforce and NetSuite with on-premise applications from SAP, Microsoft Great Plains, Intuit and Oracle. Nucci said he does see some Oracle CRM on demand and SAP Business Objects delivered as a service.

Nucci said the trick will be to keep quality partners as the unit grows. Boomi is moving to certify partners on knowledge, experience and quality review components. Partners will need to renew their certification each year. Coupa, Taleo, Intellect International, Trajectory and WDCi are initial certified partners.

The latest edition of AtomSphere includes:

  • A middleware connector to on-premise software. AtomSphere includes a Java Message Service to plug into middleware packages such as MQ Series, Progress Software, Tibco and webMethods. The gateway allows for auditing and governance.
  • Change Data Capture that cuts the size of data sets by focusing only on changes.
  • Support for large data set processing.
  • A connector to Salesforce.com’s Bulk application programming interface.
  • Integration monitoring.
